Clever DIY Mason Jar Sun Tea Strainer Lid For Iced Tea

Today I'm going to show you how to create convenient strainer for making loose leaf sun tea in a mason jar. First off we need a mason jar and a canning lid rim. A small piece of stainless steel screen, you can find this fairly inexpensively at your local hardware store. It has to be stainless steel so it is food safe. And for tools a set of snips or plyers, a marker, and a hot glue gun. To start out take the screen and trace the shape of the lid. Then cut out the shape using your snips. It is a good idea to cut just inside the lines for a better fit. Once the circle is cut out, place it inside the canning jar lid. Using your hot glue gun tack the screen inside the rim. Then run a bead all the way around to really seal it in well. Let the glue cool and it's ready to go. Now when you have a freshly steeped jar like this amazing green mint iced tea.
