The SkyAces Formation Aerobatics Display at Avalon Airshow 2017. Paul Bennet with Glenn Graham and Glenn Collins flying for SkyAces Formation Aerobatics Team. (Details Below;) WOLF PITTS PRO (Yellow) Registration: VH-PVB Powerplant: Lycoming IO-540 6 Cylinder (400hp) PVB is the very first Wolf Pitts and one of only two in existence. The Wolf Pitts Pro is the highest performing aerobatic biplane in the world, made using the latest design concepts utilising the latest in materials , it was designed and hand built by Steve Wolf from the United States. Powered by a 400hp Lycoming engine and a empty weight of 1200lbs (450kg) the Wolf Pitts is capable of a cruise speed of 185kts (340 km/hr) and a top speed of 224kts (414 km/hr). With four ailerons that span almost the entire length of the wings, the Wolf Pitts has a dizzying roll rate of over 360 degs per second! WOLF PITTS S1-11X (Orange) Registration: VH-PVX Powerplant: Lycoming IO-540 6 Cylinder (400hp) With Paul Bennet being in high demand to perform world wide it became evident that he would require a second aircraft to fulfil the increasing demand for his solo aerobatic display abroad. Paul sourced the aircraft in brand new condition from Germany and builder Udo Bearing. The Wolf Pitts S1-11X is built to the same standard as Paul’s famous Wolf Pitts Pro. The main difference between these two are in the fuselage. The S1-11X utilizes a Pitts S1-11B airframe with all the custom parts from Steve Wolfs Wolf Pitts Pro added. PITTS S1-S (Red) Registration: VH-UDP and VH-IPB Powerplant: Lycoming IO-360 (4 cylinder) The Pitts S1 was first designed in the 1940’s and was originally powered by a 90hp Franklin engine. In the 1970’s this biplane quickly became a favorite for pilots flying in aerobatic competitions around the world. The Pitts S1-S was Paul’s first aircraft that was purchased with the concept of competing in competition aerobatics. Paul went on to win many aerobatic competitions in this aircraft including the Unlimited category in 2009. Paul has began modifying this aircraft after competition by installing Prescion Wings, a carbon fibre propeller and a ‘modified’ Lycoming IO-360 engine. The S1 Pitts aircraft are utilized in the Sky Aces formation aerobatic team flying position two and three. -
