Boeing + Airbus joint aircraft project

www.foundandexplained.com - Website   / discord   - Discord With the rumored news that Boeing and Airbus will be working together on their next aircraft project, a new middle of the market jet dubbed the B300 MAX, I thought I'd put together a quick video to highlight what it is, what we might see, and what will happen next. Now this isn't the first time that Boeing and Airbus have discussed joint projects, and before I jump into today's news, I want to give some background! Our story actually starts back in the 1980s when Airbus was looking to enter the US market. Many people don't know this but Airbus actually planned to work with Mcdonald Douglas on their trijet concept called the AM 300. The AM 300 would have had the wing of the A330 combined with the fuselage of the Mcdonnell Douglas MD-11. Airbus was working on a long-range version of the A340 and wanted to discover if three engines would work better than four while maintaining the long range of the model. Unfortunately, the deal fell through when Mcdonnel Douglas picked up more orders for the MD-11 and MD80 in 1988, pushing them to go their own way in the market. Flash forward to the mid-90s and Boeing and Airbus were once again collaborating on the super transport, one that was a double-decker and would be the aircraft of the future. This would be a complicated partnership, with both sides building firewalls to ensure that no secret industry information would slip between each other of what they were up to. In the end, Airbus and Boeing split ways and built the A380 and Boeing 747-8 respectively. Where does that leave us today? With the coronavirus down turning the world aviation economy and air travel demand at a new low, it seems right for Boeing and Airbus to revisit old plans and split the shrinking market between them, as well as prepare for new market entries like COMAC. But what will their first jet look like? Lets explore The plane will be the body of the Boeing 787, but with the cockpit of the A350, captable of taking 250 passengers 5,000 nautical miles. Its steel construction and lack of carbon fibire will make it cheaper for airlines, and will make it a perfect medium haul airline. We also can't rule out the possibility of the aircraft using propfan technology, as it is better for the enviroment than turbofans. However, a secret Airbus source told me on msn messenger that they have the option to make it with titanium, double decks and with the capacity to make it fly supersonic at Mach 3.0. Construction will be built jointly at the South Carolina plant and Airbus's Tanjing factory, with Flybe set to be the launch customer. And if you have made it this far into the video without realizing what day it is, APRIL FOOLS! haha well done, I thought i'd put together a little prank for you guys, and I'm sure right now someone is writing in the comments saying how wrong I am, and how incorrect I am and how they are unsubscribing, but i'll let them get red faced when we correct them in the comments. And for those wondering, Airbus and Boeing have flirted with working together over the years, and they got really close with the design of the A380 - but the rest of that is fiction and today they are as competitive as ever! Normally here I'd tell you to subscribe for more content like this, but in trust there won't be any more content like this for a long time yet - this is just a one off joke episode! Thanks for watching!
