This is Whistler build 2287 in VMware Workstation. This is a beta 1 build that was compiled on 2000-10-12 and expires on 2001-04-12. How I got this to work: Set backwards compatibility with VMware Workstation version 6.5-7. The OS should be set to Windows 2000 Server. Make sure you set the VHD as IDE. After you create the VM, edit the .vmx file, add a new line with this text: acpi.present = "FALSE" This will disable ACPI as well as going into setup and pressing F5 and setting it as "Standard PC". I recommend you do both though because VMware froze on the installing devices portion of setup when I didn't edit the .vmx file. You must also use a boot floppy file (I recommend the Windows98_SE_No_Ramdrive.img from allbootdisks.com ) because the .ISO is not bootable. To get drivers working, use the VMware Workstation version 7 SVGA II driver. Do not use a driver any newer than that version due to bugs in newer versions causing higher resolutions to not work properly. Music: 1.
