Game Over For Money-Based Online Gaming? Industry In Shock Over Proposed Ban | India Today

The government is set to introduce a bill in parliament to ban online money games. The cabinet has approved the bill, which is aimed at curbing the influence of cash gaming apps that have reportedly duped several people amid a lack of regulation. While this crackdown is underway, the government also plans to promote e-sports. Separately, the opposition is preparing to oppose another bill which stipulates that a constitutional person, such as a chief minister or minister, could lose their post if they are in custody for 30 days. The opposition has labelled this a "very, very vindictive bill which will target the opposition further and victimize the opposition leaders who are in constitutional post."
