A review of Thomas Nelson's New King James Version (NKJV) Study Bible, the full color third edition. This volume, containing the 66 books of the Protestant canon, is bound in brown Leathersoft (ISBN 9781400335282, Style# 4543BRN). The words of Christ are in black. This Bible contains the sixty-six books of the Protestant canon. The text is printed in two 65 mm wide columns, organized into paragraphs, with in-text headings in black and chapter numbers printed in teal. Approximately 72,000 cross references and text and translation notes appear at below the Biblical text, and are tagged to the text with red chapter:verse numbers. I believe this edition contains the complete set of NKJV text and translation notes. The 9 point Comfort Print text is attractively printed with adequate line spacing. Variations in print darkness are difficult to find. Cross references are in a roughly 7 point font. The volume is large, measuring 9 9/16 x 6 13/16 x 2 inches in dimensions. Margins are narrow: The outer margin is between 10 and 13 mm wide (2/5 to half an inch). Book introductions are included, and a 182 page concordance appears in the back of the volume. Printed in an 7 to 7.5 point font in three columns, the concordance lists about 5900 key words. A very helpful subject index to the annotations and features is included just before the concordance. The roughly 36 gsm paper is opaque, and show-through (ghosting) is not an issue. The paper is almost white, with a somewhat glossy surface. The volume is sewn and lies open in Genesis. Page edges are covered in gold. Two 10 mm wide ribbon markers are provided, one brown, one red. Head and tail bands are brown. The two-tone imitation leather cover features a line of stitching along the edge and where the light and dark panels join. The construction is paste-off/paste-down, with a decorated brown paper liner. Page-bottom notes are typically printed in a 7 to 7.5 point font and are arranged into three columns. Other in-text study aids (articles, Bible times and culture notes, charts and diagrams, in-text color maps, and word studies) are in the same font. A number of color photos and illustrations are also present. The notes display a high regard for the reliability and inspiration of Scripture. They are Evangelical in character. No specific end times perspective is promoted. Fourteen color maps are located in the back. This edition was printed in China.
