As with many of the products I review, I love minimalist and simple design. With walkie-talkies, this is often referred to as a 'black box' design. There's really nothing you can do wrong with a two-way radio like the Motorola DP1400. Solid build quality, simple and easy to understand controls, a great range of accessories and, most importantly, reliable and excellent performance. I bought these to test out and play around with but these are serious bits of kit used in companies worldwide who maybe don't see the need to pay out the extra for the premium Motorola DP4400e (which I now seriously want to try out!).
