In this video from the Talking Depression campaign by Janssen Sciences Ireland UC, adventurer Dane Galligan speaks with broadcaster Elaine Crowley about the support he has received from friends and family as someone living with severe depression. Dane talks to Elaine about the first time he opened up to those closest to him after being diagnosed. He speaks about how he felt a weight was lifted when his family finally knew what he was experiencing. He describes the importance of having a strong support network and how people can provide support in many different ways. He recognises how difficult it can be for people close to someone who is struggling with severe depression to truly understand what they are going through, but that the benefits of their support cannot be underestimated.
