Finnish disc golf star Väinö Mäkelä knows a thing or two about Teebirds and scoring on the course. On Tour, he bags a whopping FIVE Teebirds in a range of stabilities, soaking up the bulk of the work off the tee. Sure, his Destroyers might go a little farther in some winds, but gram-for-gram, the Teebird just gets the job done with less effort. The Teebird is no slouch when it comes to big distance either; it once held the World Record at 247 meters or a whopping 810 feet. It's pretty impressive for such a controllable fairway driver. Väinö is excited to announce a new bird for his 2025 bag, the Väinö Mäkelä Tour Series Star Teebird. These new Väinö Teebirds are made from a stiff swirled Star plastic and sport a flattish-to-neutral dome, perfect for cutting through the air and dropping reliably on target. This firm but grippy plastic gives Väinö’s Teebirds the integrity to be thrown hard at pro speed yet still predictably hold the line. Disc golf is a game of confidence, and Väinö simply knows his Teebirds will go where they’re supposed to. The [7|5|0|2] Teebird is a staple in so many touring pro bags for a reason, and Väinö’s stiff, swirled Star version has quickly become a favorite run for those who have tried them. The [7]-speed wing of the Teebird has been long-prized for its ease of use, with its high [5] glide contributing to massive potential distance, flying almost as far as higher-speed distance drivers in some situations. Its [0]-rated turn has helped the Teebird become so widely loved since you can hit this disc hard without it budging offline. It will only turn over if you really put the wing up and force it to turn. The Teebird’s [2] fade is substantial enough to make aiming easy without overbearing or squashing its forward momentum. You can trust the low-speed pull-back as the disc starts to slow, but it's subtle and gentle enough not to stifle its distance potential. The resulting balance of this flight design is an exceptionally beneficial control driver that flies farther than you may imagine for its modest speed rating. Väinö Mäkelä is not alone in feeling that Innova’s founder, Dave Dunipace, knocked this design out of the park. Most other manufacturers have attempted to copy the Teebird, all with varying results. We think Väinö would agree with us here: if you’re looking for that world-famous stroke-saving flight of a Teebird, just throw a Teebird. The 2025 Väinö Mäkelä Tour Series Star Teebird.
