This 4-mile loop trail leaves directly from the Aguirre Spring Campground, a primitive, but well-maintained BLM campground with over 50 sites, accessed by a windy and steep, but paved, single lane road. The mellow, enjoyable trail is mostly smooth dirt with some rockier sections and just over 1,000' of elevation gain. The Organ Mountains tower above the trail to the south and west, while a sweeping vista of the Tularosa Basin stretches out below off to the northeast. There isn't a whole lot of shade on the trail, so be prepared for intense sun and heat depending on the season. Leaving early in the morning (we left at 8am) increases the amount of shade encountered and we were able to finish up around 11am before things got too warm. There is a partially-shaded primitive campsite with great views at the halfway point. #NewMexico #OrganMountains #LasCruces #NewMexicoHikes #NationalMonumentUSA #AguirreSpring Learning to Travel, is a travel video & social media company formed by Joyce & Daryle Dickens to help others identify and realize their dreams of “traveling more”. After years of “traveling more” talk with too little action, we finally went all-in on a life-changing 14-month journey to 23 countries and 23 US states. Since then, we’ve heard far too many people say “I wish I could do that” which has made us realize that most people need a little push to believe their travel dreams are possible and a little guidance to turn those dreams into reality. That inspiration and guidance is what https://LearningToTravel.com is all about.
