There are a lot of players who were involved in Jamaican Music at the turn of the 60s and 70s. Some were producers, others engineers, sound system and record label owners. I'd have to go full on Lester Freamon to untangle it. Honestly reggae and Jamaican music deserves a full documentary of the Ken Burns style or at least as respectful. I'm a music enthusiast not a reggae expert but hey, HBO or Netflix hit me up I know of some people you should pay for consultancy. But let's get back to dub, and versioning in general. What happened was by accident jamaican record makers found space in music. They worked with music in a different way to what was going on in most places which was overdubbing.
