This consists of the effort to save technical objects from misunderstanding and ignorance of them as functional objects or mere utilities and understand the genesis of technical objects according to its own rationality and at the same time a problem and possible solution to alienation described by Marx. What underlies in Simondon’s ambitious project is the construction of a new metaphysical ground (against hylomorphism and substantialism) as well as a new philosophical anthropology described as a genesis of technicity. In this seminar, we will examine the main philosophical propositions of Simondon in On the Mode of Existence of Technical Objects (as well as in other writings and courses) and its significances for understanding the contemporary technological condition.
