Itihāsa- The History Association of Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, University of Delhi, in collaboration with IQAC feels immense pride in welcoming Prof. Sekhar Bandyopadhyay for a Webinar on the "Dalit Movements in Bengal Before and After Independence." In the emergent historiography on Colonial and Post Colonial India, focus on Dalit studies is indicative of historical explorations. These not only help in understanding of historical social processes across time and space in context of India but also broaden understanding about History as a discipline. The scholarly contribution of Professor Sekhar Bandhopadhyay on Dalit Studies is indeed a great part of it. Professor Sekhar Bandyopadhyay is currently the Emeritus Professor of the History and Head of the Department of History, Philosophy, Political Science and International Relations in Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He is the Author and Co- Author of several notable books such as, 'From Plassey To Partition And After,' 'Caste, Culture and Hegemony,' and 'Caste, Protest And Identity In Colonial India' to mention a few. We believe it to be our utmost privilege to be able to hear to Prof. Bandyopadhyay and his ideas on the various aspects on the theme of discussion. Thank you for joining with us.
