If you're a '90s kid from India, you've surely seen and heard an ALCO diesel engine tooting and chugging away with smoke bellowing out of its exhaust and engulfing the train that it's towing behind! Sadly, for a lot of us, this childhood nostalgia has come to an abrupt end with the ALCOs going off service all over the country. Mangalore, which once used to be exclusively ruled by these magnificent beasts has just bid adieu to its last ALCO diesel hauled train and this video is my tribute to the glorious era of these "deemers" and "diggers", much loved and adored by us, the old-school railfans. You'll also hear my voice for a change, for better or for worse.
