At our monthly Business Advocacy Meeting on December 4, 2025, a panel of local leaders provided updates on several important issues and topics affecting the business community. 1. Nicole Palmateer Hazelbaker, owner of Bravio Communications and SACC's contracted lobbyist, talked about the recent State of Oregon budget deficit drop and what that means for government services and our business community. 2. Ruth Miles, Government Relations with Salem Health, provided an overview of H.R. 1 and its impact locally, along with an update on Medicaid funding. 3. Representative Kevin Mannix (HD 21) discussed his priorities for the upcoming legislative session. 4. Salem Fire Chief David Gerboth updated our members about the Marion County Commissioners' support provided in November for county mental health workers' co-response teams with Salem Fire Department responding to calls downtown. 5. Josh Eggleston, Chief Financial Officer, City of Salem, talked about the City's new program for supporting local businesses in the public bidding and buying process, including the program's parameters and goals.
