I Spent 70 Hours Hand Sewing a Berry Bonnet

Well, I certainly didn’t expect this historical fashion project to go like this. Making this Victorian bonnet to go along with the rest of the Berry Dress ensemble was far, far more time consuming than I ever imagined – I spent an entire 70 hours hand sewing this thing! Being that this was my first time ever making a bonnet or any hat from scratch, I’m really proud with how it turned out and at least I feel my hard work was not for naught. I certainly have a profound respect as well for milliners! The final completion of the Berry Dress is right upon us, as I will be releasing the construction process for the 1860s day bodice and the grand reveal on December 30th, 2021, just in time for the new year. I’m excited to fully accessorise the ensemble and finally make it into a completed look that I’ll be able to wear as daily historical clothing.
