Primary and community healthcare support for people living with frailty

People living with frailty are likely to get exhausted easily and become housebound. It's a condition estimated to cost the NHS £5.8 billion a year. In 2024-25, GPs only assessed one in six patients aged 65 or over for frailty. We call on NHSE to set clear and consistent requirements for GPs to assess and support people living with frailty and provide a timetable for work to standardise community health services. We also urge the Department of Health and Social Care to commission a systematic evaluation of its approach to frailty.
