#Aristocraft #pikotrains #lgbtrains #gardenrailroad #gardenrailway Like many of you out there, you may have a mixed collection of g scale track. However, they may require special rail clamps to connect those pieces of rail. Personally, I use the Massoth rail clamps with the two screws. Unless there is a defect in the rail, you can create a secured connection between different brands of rail. First, I remove the original rail clamps. LGB and Piko rail clamps are easy to remove with a pair of pliers. I would bend the clip both ways to widen the opening and they slip off with a good tug. While the hammer and flathead trick works, you can damage the rail that way. Aristocraft track requires you to use the little screwdriver to remove their pieces, because of the little screw attached to the side. *Sidenote-If you are using exclusively Aristocraft Track/USA Track beware of the side screw holes. I’m not going to lie, you are going to have some problematic pieces. This is mainly due to the side slot not perfectly aligning with the screw hole in the track as well as dropping those little screws. At the very least use a cardboard box underneath the track to collect errant screws, otherwise they will fall in the ballast or dirt to never be seen again. Hence why I use the Massoth rail clamps. I first insert the screws in their slots and go about halfway so that I can create my initial connection. From there you can use your finger to create counter pressure as you use a small flathead screwdriver to create a tight connection. A single person can reasonably connect around eight to ten feet of track that you can transport to your layout. I mainly do this to avoid working in the sun and losing materials like those little screws.
