Next up for Surprise Trade is Cramorant, a Flying/Water-type with a special gimmick in battle, and I usually breed for 31 IVs in at least 4 or 5 stats. I went with Timid for the Nature, while its Speed is above average, Cramorant has two decent attacking stats, its best stat is Special Defense. Its unique Ability is Gulp Missile, if it uses Surf or Dive, it changes its form, the first one is its Gulping Form, where its prey is Arrokuda, and if Cramorant is hit by an attack, it spits out Arrokuda and the opponent takes damage and has their Defense lowered. If Cramorant's HP is below 50%, it changes to its Gorging Form, where it has a Pikachu stuck in its throat, and the opponent is paralyzed instead. For Egg Moves, I went with Aqua Cutter, Roost, Defog, and Feather Dance, as I saw them to be the most useful moves, and Aqua Cutter does give it an attacking move. Its other moves are Aerial Ace and Aqua Ring, it can already get Aerial Ace as a TM move. Cramorant's starting moves are Peck, Stockpile, Swallow, and Spit Up, and for level up moves, it can learn Water Gun, Fury Attack, Pluck, Dive, Drill Peck, Amnesia, Thrash, and Hydro Pump, and it can relearn Belch. Next is TM moves, it can get Water Pulse, Acrobatics, Thief, Pounce, Chilling Water, Icy Wind, Air Cutter, Air Slash, Fly, Liquidation, Tailwind, Surf, Reversal, Ice Beam, Blizzard, Giga Impact, Hurricane, Hyper Beam, Brave Bird, Tera Blast, Uproar, Weather Ball, Dual Wingbeat, Endeavor, Whirlpool, and Throat Chop. Cramorant is not that good in online battles, while it does have an interesting gimmick, it's not really the best Pokémon there is. The main strategy is to use Surf or Dive, Surf is preferred as it doesn't require two turns to use the move, and it can use Endure to take an attack, and with a Custap Berry, it can use Surf, that way the opponent will be paralyzed when Cramorant is taken out. It does have Air Slash and Hurricane for Flying-type moves, and it has Ice Beam for type coverage, and there is Defog to remove entry hazards. For Tera Type, Ground is the best option as not only does that allow it to use Ground-type Tera Blast to beat Electric-type, but it also changes its massive Electric weakness into an immunity. It can go with Electric to fight opposing Water-types, and Steel is a good defensive Tera Type for it. Cramorant isn't that great in Double Battles as there are way better Pokémon out there, and its gimmick isn't worth the effort when it isn't a fast Pokémon to begin with. There wasn't much to go over with this Pokémon, that's what happens when it isn't that good in the competitive scene, but it is decent when going through the main game. It isn't until Level 28 that Cramorant learns Dive, and it requires a TM to get Surf, most of Cramorant's attacks are learned through TMs, like Air Slash, Hurricane, and Ice Beam. It is useful in the mid-game, but it does start to fall off in the late-game as it doesn't have the best stats compared to most fully evolved Pokémon. If you are wondering about its performance in Tera Raid Battles, it's not that good there either, while the Defense drop from Gulp Missile, or paralysis if its HP is below 50% is good, and moves that deal damage and lower Defense are very rare, as most of which are signature moves, like Grav Apple which is exclusive to Flapple, and Thunderous Kick is another of these moves, but only Galarian Zapdos can use it. Fire Lash can also lower Defense, but only Salazzle can learn it in this game, and there are moves that have a chance to lower Defense, like Crunch, Rock Smash, Iron Tail, and Liquidation, the downside is that it is only a 20% or 30% with some moves, and Iron Tail has unreliable accuracy to be an option, and Rock Smash, despite its 50% chance to lower Defense, only has 40 power, making it not that great. While the Gorging Form can inflict paralysis, the downside is that Cramorant needs to be at 50% HP in order for it to work, and that can be done better with Nuzzle or a move that inflicts paralysis like Thunderbolt or Discharge, there is no reason to use Cramorant in Tera Raid Battles when the effects from its gimmick can be done better by other Pokémon.
