September 2025 / Over the past eight months, Novi Sad has become the center of mass protests, primarily student-led, following the tragedy at the city’s train station on November 1, 2024, when the collapse of a canopy claimed 16 lives. The incident sparked public outrage over corruption and poor infrastructure oversight. Citizens and students organized blockades, memorial performances, and protest marches — including a symbolic 80-kilometer walk from Belgrade to Novi Sad and the blockade of the city’s three Danube bridges. Demonstrations also featured moments of silence, courthouse gatherings, as well as artistic and feminist performances. In March 2025, Prime Minister Miloš Vučević resigned, which further fueled the movement. Students then staged a marathon relay to Brussels to draw the EU’s attention to corruption and the erosion of democracy in Serbia. During the summer, the protests evolved into a “Summer Campus” in Novi Sad — a space for dialogue, art, and civic resistance. However, August brought escalation: clashes with police, the use of tear gas, and the largest wave of arrests since the beginning of the movement. ............................... SRPSKI ........... Tokom poslednjih osam meseci, Novi Sad je postao epicentar masovnih protesta, prvenstveno studentskih, nakon tragedije na železničkoj stanici 1. novembra 2024. kada je urušavanje nadstrešnice odnelo 16 života. Incident je izazvao talas nezadovoljstva zbog korupcije i loše kontrole infrastrukture. Građani i studenti su potom organizovali blokade, performanse sećanja i protestne marševe, uključujući i pešački pohod od Beograda do Novog Sada i blokadu tri novosadska mosta. Protesti su obuhvatali i simbolične akcije — minut tišine, okupljanja ispred sudova, kao i umetničke i feminističke performanse. U martu 2025. usledila je ostavka premijera Miloša Vučevića, što je dodatno podstaklo pokret. Studenti su zatim organizovali i maraton do Brisela, skrećući pažnju EU na problem korupcije i nedostatak demokratije. Tokom leta, protest se transformisao u „Letnji kampus“ u Novom Sadu, prostor za dijalog, umetnost i građanski otpor.
