This lecture is part of a lecture series on Material Science and Engineering given by Mr. Manjeet for B.Tech students at Binary Institute. Description Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) are advanced materials in which a ceramic matrix such as silicon carbide, alumina, or zirconia is reinforced with ceramic fibers, carbon fibers, or whiskers. CMCs are specifically engineered to overcome the brittleness of traditional ceramics while retaining their excellent high-temperature strength, thermal stability, oxidation resistance, and corrosion resistance. These composites exhibit remarkable performance in extreme environments, making them ideal for aerospace turbine blades, heat shields, brake systems, and components in nuclear and chemical industries. The reinforcement helps improve fracture toughness, fatigue resistance, and thermal shock resistance, enabling CMCs to operate at temperatures far exceeding those of metal alloys without significant degradation. #CeramicMatrixComposites #CMC #CompositeMaterials #MaterialScience #HighTemperatureMaterials #ThermalShockResistance #AerospaceEngineering #AutomotiveEngineering #OxidationResistance #AdvancedMaterials #NuclearEngineering
