Here are the facts: In air ion propulsion has been around for many decades and does in fact work. The technology previously always required a large external power supply because all ionic crafts had required at least 100s of times more power fed to them than they could lift onboard. This series of crafts are the first heavier than air ion propelled crafts of any kind to lift their power supplies onboard against Earth's gravity. The physics of how it works are clearly explained, and this series of crafts have been demonstrated to a large number of officials flying with onboard power. This craft series are the only heavier than air solely ion propelled crafts that can lift their own power supplies from the ground. The thrust to weight ratio had to be increased by hundreds of times to make them work. This is the world's most efficient ion propelled craft by a large margin. It represents a dramatic increase in thrust per watt of input power. On this channel there are videos of it lifting small optional added propellant cylinders. It will consequently work in space. It requires extremely small amounts of propellant to produce thrust. There is an alternate version of the craft that has been calculated to work with a diffuse electron beam instead of ions, although that one has not been built yet. The craft will work with 100% solar power or alternatively powered by a small laser beam and concentrator solar cell. It will accelerate in space more quickly and for longer periods of time than any other current proven technology. Extraordinary verification is provided to certify that this craft lifts its own power supply against the pull of Earth's gravity, exactly as the patents describe. Here is one such link with the science correspondent of NPR, Jeff Saint Clair: https://news.wosu.org/wksu-stories/20... The above craft is called the Ion Propelled Vehicle or Self-Contained Ion Powered (propelled) Aircraft. US Patents 10,119,527 and 11,161,631. It is patented for lifting its power supply against Earth's gravity, for methods of increasing the efficiency of ion thrust, and for methods of building an improved power supply for this application. The craft has also been flown in the past with a small onboard camera and video transmitter. It has flown for just under 2 minutes continuously before using vertical powered lift. Vertical lift requires far more power than horizontal. It has also flow horizontally utilizing aerodynamic lift, it requires much less power, and a lower throttle setting, in that flight mode. There is video on this channel of it flying for 1 minute 51 seconds continuously vertically, plus a few seconds long hop afterwards on one battery charge. The earliest versions of this craft would only fly with 20 or 30mAh battery cells maximum. In this video it is shown flying with 240mAh battery cells, the largest yet! I was expecting it to fly longer. Once the power drain is located that will be forthcoming! (Update: The shorter flight time was caused by a combination of some slightly low emitter wires sections, and the transformer being a little high on the saturation curve with these particular batteries, it can be fixed.) The next test will be to see if it will fly for reasonable periods of time still with small batteries, for comparison. The wiggling emitter wire section will be fixed, and more importantly, work on the new control system will continue. (Update: It did fly for around 40 seconds in its current condition, on 37mAh batteries. The oscillating emitter wire support section was also stabilized.)
