Oil Painting - The Block In

Join me for a day in the studio while I explain how to block in an oil painting. This video will give you some insight into my thought process for developing a painting. For the block in I used Titanium White, Quinacrodone Magenta, and Ultramarine Blue. I used a grid to enlarge the photo. Be sure the proportions of your photo match your canvas. The beginning of the oil painting should focus only on the bigger shapes and how they relate and hold together. A strong foundation involving composition and well executed drawing will insure a successful beginning. Thank you for watching the video.
