I Restored a Rare 1935 Wehrmacht Lighter Found in a Junk Box – You Won’t Believe the Transformation!

Hi ✌️ In this restoration video, I’m bringing a rare 1935 Wehrmacht brass lighter back to life. I found it at a flea market, buried in a metal box with old, rusty tools—its previous owner didn’t even remember where it came from. The lighter was missing its closing mechanism, but I got it for just a few dollars. After showing it to a collector and doing some research, we discovered it’s a rare German/Austrian lighter from 1935. Here’s how I restored it: • I cleaned the patina using lemon acid. • I removed the remaining silver plating with electrolysis, using saltwater as the electrolyte. • I polished the metal to a beautiful shine using steel wool. • I soldered the broken part back together with soldering paste. • I custom-made a new wick closing mechanism to replace the missing one. • Finally, I re-silvered all the parts using a chemical silvering process. I’m really happy with how this vintage lighter turned out. It’s the first time I’ve restored something like this, and I’m excited to share the process with you!
