Iraq Vlog #7: IRAQ IS SO RICH! Travel to Girsu & Mesopotamian Marshes / سفري إلى جيرسو وأهوار العراق

Today's video is about the trip inside the richest land in this country. Mesopotamian Marshes covered most parts of Southern Iraq, but they were destroyed by former dictator Saddam Hussein around 1980s. This area is very rich in history, and we can see the original landscape of the Sumer even now in here. I captured amazing shots in Marshes, so please enjoy :) Also, I put the story of Girsu, once the religious center of Southern Iraq (Mesopotamia). The supreme goddess Ningirsu (Ninurta) were enshrined in Ziggurat, but now it’s very hard to imagine the time of ancient civilization. I could see the ancient bridge inside the ruin, and I was amazed by how people created such a huge bridge at that time. We could not visit Lagash and Wasit due to the collapse of the country. We had the special permission to enter these places, but local security did not allow us to enter there. I hoped to see Lagash even before visiting Iraq, so I was so disappointed at that time.
