Beginner Ballet Lesson 17: Chasse, Glissade, Tombe, & Pas de Bourree | Free Beginner Ballet Class

Welcome to Lesson 17 of our comprehensive beginner ballet course! In this lesson, we're stepping into the center of the ballet room to explore connecting steps that will enhance your grace and fluidity. Get ready to learn Chassé, Glissade, Pas de Cheval, Tombé, and Pas de Bourrée. Chassé, pronounced sha-SAY, is all about chasing movement. You'll perform a swift glide that transitions smoothly into other steps. It's a versatile step that can start in various positions and directions. Glissade, pronounced gle-SAD, means to glide, and that's exactly what you'll do. One foot will glide elegantly to meet the other, creating a seamless movement. It's essential to master this graceful glide for more advanced combinations. Pas de Cheval, which translates to "horse's step" (pah duh shuh-VAHL), mimics the gentle step of a horse. You'll learn how to create this flowing motion with your working foot brushing along the floor. Tombé, pronounced tom-BAY, involves controlled falling to transfer your weight from one leg to another. This technique is essential for smooth transitions between movements. Pas de Bourrée, pronounced pah duh boo-RAY, consists of a series of three quick, small steps executed in a specific pattern. This step is a building block for many ballet combinations. To conclude this lesson, we'll put these steps together in a beautiful combination. You'll perform a combination along with me that features Chassé, Glissade, Tombé, and Pas de Bourrée. Congrats on continuing your ballet journey!
