Now the option depends upon following conditions like it depends upon the how many weeks the pregnant woman is, her clinical symptoms and her clinical condition, her beta HCG levels, the transvaginal scan results, her fertility status and her general health. Now the treatment options available are expectant management where we will just wait and watch. The second is the medical management. Third is a surgical treatment. If the beta hCG levels are higher the success rate would be lower and during the whole process of managing the patient with the expectant treatment we'll have to keep a watch on symptoms. If she's having any severe abdominal pain or fainting episode she has to reach out to the hospital immediately. Now next method would be the medical management. The medical management of tubal ectopic pregnancy here in this case we use a medicine called Methotrexate. This medicine is known to stop the cells to grow and prevents the ectopic pregnancy to grow further and there are certain criteria's which we have to look for to go ahead with this kind of medical treatment. This depends upon your beta hCG level, the scan results and the tube should not be ruptured and the woman's vitals has to be stable that is her blood pressure has to be normal in such cases we can go ahead with the medical treatment and the most important to go ahead with this kind of treatment is the woman should be with the regular follow-up of the beta hCG that will give us the prognosis of the medical management and most of the women will respond with one dose of Methotrexate. Some women may need second dose of Methotrexate as well in case the beta hCG level is not dropping like in 15 out of 100 women would need a second dose of Methotrexate. Now once you take the Methotrexate there are certain side effects of women can face. They can have abdominal pain, they can have spotting and the abdominal pain can be managed with taking paracetamol and she may be told to stay in the hospital for a day for the observation and before giving the Methotrexate we will run some blood test to check for the organs function. If they're all normal then we can go ahead and give the methotrexate injection and she has to keep following up with the beta hCG blood test regularly till the level becomes normal and during the whole process the woman has to be careful to watch about her symptoms like in case if she is having any severe abdominal pain, if she's having any dizziness, fainting episode she has to report to the hospital as early as possible and sometimes like seven percent seven out of 100 women may not respond to the Methotrexate. In such cases they may need a surgical treatment going ahead forward and when a woman is taking this Methotrexate there are certain things she has to keep a watch she should avoid certain things like doing heavy exercises, she has to avoid sexual intercourse, she has to avoid consuming alcohol. These are all the precautions she has to take when she is taking a methotrexate injection.
