With Alarm.com service and the DSC NEO system being our top-selling setup, we've run into many activations that don't go quite as smoothly as they should. This problem is generally due to a few simple mistakes during the installation process, which can be easily rectified following this video. There are 4 common issues we see during activation that will keep a customer from fully activating and using their Alarm.com service. The most notable are the wiring troubles. The TL880 uses a unique wiring setup compared to most modules and devices you can use with the DSC NEO. These unique wiring connections have 2 sets of wires to contend with, a PC-link connection and a set of transmit and receive wires. Both can be set up incorrectly very easily, but this video will show the proper wiring for both. Along with the wiring issues, 2 programming options can also affect whether the communicator can connect properly. First, you'll need to make sure the system has the option for alternate comms enabled so that the system knows to let the communicator do its job. Also, during alarm.com activations having your installer code set to the default value of 5555 is preferred as this allows the TL880 to get into your panel to sync properly. Once all 4 of these options are set correctly, finishing an activation will always go smoothly.
