Author Jacqueline Saper, shares her powerful firsthand story of growing up Jewish in Iran before and after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Jacqueline describes a vibrant, modern Iran of the 1960’s and 70’s where Jews and other minorities lived openly and Western culture thrived. Her life changed dramatically when Ayatollah Khomeini came to power. Jacqueline recounts the rapid transformation from freedom to repression—mandatory hijab, executions, propaganda in schools, and increasing fear for religious minorities. As a young mother watching her daughter face indoctrination and war, she ultimately made the difficult decision to flee Iran with only two suitcases, leaving behind family and everything she knew.
