I graduated from university with a perfect bachelor's degree in computer science and ever since my third year there I've been working part-time in front-end web development. For the first 2 years that was about 10 to 16 hours per week, then I did two years of 16 hour weeks and then two with 20 hour weeks, so I tried a mix of different working times. This was mostly due to university and the fact that at some point I did have two part-time jobs. Front-end web development is a mid-range job in terms of payment in the world of computer science, so it could be better, but it could also be worse when you get into quality assurance or some non-coding computer science work. Those usually make a little less. I think it's important to mention that in the first two or three years I was receiving small boosts from my parents to pay rent, but since then I've been holding my own. I definitely could have paid for things without that, but it did help me sleep a little better. So as you may have calculated I made around 60,000€ in 5,5 years, which is some people's perfectly normal annual salary in full-time front-end development. But hey, I had some time to myself.
