In this video we'll explore Tandulwadi fort, situated in Palghar district of Maharashtra. Tandulwadi fort is at a height of around 1900 ft above sea level. This fort was built between 8th-12th century in the time of shilahar dynasty. Sultan of Gujrat Bahadur Shah named Malik Alauddin as the killedar (fort keeper) of Tandulwadi fort. The fort was captured by Portuguese in the 16th century. In 1737 the Portuguese were defeated by the maratha army under the command of Chimaji Appa (younger brother of Peshwa Bajirao), making the Portuguese to surrender the fort of Vasai along with several other forts in the surrounding including Tandulwadi.
