Instagram: Jeremy__Realtor (two underscores) www.JeremySmithHomes.com ===== With so many people leaving California, I'm always looking for the 'why'. Even if I wasn't involved in Real Estate, I think I'd still be genuinely curious. For some, it seems that California has changed an awful lot over the decades and it's time to move on to greener pastures. For others, it's returning to states they grew up in. California may have been a great place to work and spend many years, but it's time to get back 'home'... One reason that I'm hearing most often - especially this past year - is because of FAMILY. Parents or grandparents who are getting older. Or simply the desire to spend more time with loved ones after the insane 2020 we've been through. I think the positive in what's transpired over the past 10 months is that we've all been forced to scale back and reassess what our true, core needs are...and family is usually a top priority. When it comes to property you own in California, the go-to thought process is to sell and move on. If that's 100% what you want to do, then go for it! But you should also consider some alternatives: 1. Renting out your property. If the numbers work out, you could even hire a local property manager resulting in less headaches for you. 2. Refinance your property, allowing you to buy something cash (or a substantial downpayment) for your new home. 3. Wait 3-6mths. With so many moving parts in our lives, see how you adjust with the move and then make a decision.
