Violent storm | high seas, gale winds, very rough! | Captain announcement

Having crossed the English Channel from Calais to Dover aboard P&O Ferries Pride of Kent in a violent storm, the Captain makes an announcement regarding the plan of action for berthing at the British port. The ships' Master advises the passengers as we approach the Eastern Docks Ferry Terminal and pass through the breakwaters, the ships' fin stabilizers will be retracted thereby causing a lot of ship movement and passengers should remain seated for their safety. He goes onto say the engines will be at full power to get us alongside which will cause ALOT of noise and vibration within the passenger accommodation and passengers should not be concerned. A DHB (Dover Harbour Board) tug will be standing by and the ship will be using its anchors to assist with the manoeuvre. Upon arrival he says passengers should remain within the passenger accommodation as a safety check will be carried out to the vessel - presumably owing to the severe weather we passed through to get to the UK. The Captain then says if things do not go to plan we have the option to abort the approach and head back out to sea........
