It comprises recordings The Chipmunkz made while working on their third album, The Tortured Showgirl 1989, with the producer Butch Vig in 1996 and 1997. It was released after negotiation with Dave Seville, the band’s father, who initially opposed the project, fearing that RCA was trying to exploit Alvin’s legacy. The album received negative reviews, with critics and audiences calling it “a cash grab.”
