Drums By Liz Weekly Lesson! This week, we dive into a groove inspired by “Stressed Out” by Twenty One Pilots — but with a twist! I’ve expanded and embellished the idea even further than last week’s lesson. We’re taking it up a notch by using Paradiddle-diddle sticking (RLRRLL) as a sextuplet rhythm to create a busy, bouncy groove that’s super fun to play. I’ll walk you through a four-measure phrase packed with creative variations: • Measure 1: A bounce groove with a right-hand lead. • Measure 2: We flip it — a left-hand lead to build coordination and balance. • Measure 3: Embellished with triplet figures for added motion. • Measure 4: What I like to call a “filler-groove” — a beefed-up version that really grooves hard. The fourth measure is where we’ll weave Paradiddle-diddle sticking into the entire concept. It not only sounds beautiful but also helps develop the kind of control and fluidity that makes your drumming sound effortless. Each of these steps pushes you closer to mastering more advanced sticking patterns and building the confidence of an accomplished drummer. Challenge yourself to think outside the box and discover a whole new world for yourself, and your drumming! Please remember, I’ll always be cheering you on—just as I do for all my wonderful students. Let’s both stay grateful for this journey we get to share. This really is the perfect season to appreciate it all! Drumming is mathematical. Drumming is infinite. What a God-given gift it is to explore this incredible instrument! Thank you again for tuning in to another Drums By Liz lesson! With love, light, abundant blessings— and as always… Happy Drumming!😊🥁⭐️🙏🏻🌎🇺🇸❤️
