I bought a cheap DJI Mini 3 just to see if I’d actually use a drone again… and I’m surprised how much I enjoy it. I deliberately chose cheap instead of future-proofing I typically: Buy the top spec Spend way more than needed Then replace it quickly anyway So this time I flipped the mindset: ➡️ Start basic. See if I actually use it first. ➡️ The built-in screen is a huge win ➡️ A key reason I didn’t use my old Mavic much: ➡️ Having to plug your phone into the controller was annoying. With the Mini 3: ➡️ Built-in screen = massive quality-of-life improvement ➡️ Makes you actually want to fly it more ➡️ Flight time was the big selling point I wanted: ➡️ Longer time in the air ➡️ Something good for summer filming and regular weekly use ➡️ Even knowing real-world time is lower: ➡️ 30-ish minutes still feels great for the price ➡️ This positions the Mini 3 as usable, not just cheap. ➡️ It’s basic… but that’s the point I know that it has: ➡️ No tracking ➡️ No clever features ➡️ Pretty much entry-level But my mindset is: ➡️ That’s fine — it’s a test to see if I enjoy drones again. And the key takeaway ➡️ My conclusion isn’t technical, it’s personal: ➡️ I'm actually enjoying flying it. ➡️ It makes me want to use it more and maybe upgrade later. On other news....
