AD/ANZEIGE In today’s episode, Jules and I look at a new solution to an old problem that haunts film camera enthusiasts. There are plenty of fantastic cameras on the market that come without a built-in light meter and built-in rangefinder. And while there are plenty of fantastic rangefinders and small light meters on the market, the problem is that you typically only have one hot or cold shoe on your camera and cannot use both. So you would usually end up using the accessory shoe for either the rangefinder or the light meter and use a hand-held device to measure the distance or light. There is a new device on the market that finally caters to that need and promises to make certain cameras instantly more relevant. The so-called CHI Light and Distance Pocket Meter not only measures the light but also the distance to your subject. This is ideal for cameras without a built-in rangefinder and light meter. There are two different versions of the L.D. Meter. A Lite version that measures a 30° angle of light and a Pro version that only takes in light from a 7° angle and thus allows proper spot metering. With the pro version, you can easily take multiple readings of a scene in the highlights and shadows while the Lite version would only give you an average of the entire scene. The L.D. meter is available in frosted silver or frosted black and we have both versions in different colors here. We are testing the L.D. Meter with a Voigtländer Perkeo and the legendary Hasselblad SWC. Both cameras come without either a built-in light meter or rangefinder. So this is the perfect accessory to make these significantly easier to use. We also received a gunsight accessory which you could theoretically use to help you better see the laser in brighter daylight situations or on busy streets.
