Step into nature and cozy up into this two bedroom 1 bath log cabin backing to the Jefferson National Forest. As you enter the 30 acre property you will be led by the well maintained gravel drive. Keep your eyes open! Along the way you may be greeted by playful bear cubs, wild turkey, momma deer with her young, a sneaky groundhog peeping out from behind the autumn olive plant or the curious raccoon rustling about in the field. Those are just to name a few. I’m sure you will be glad to hear the property boasts a stocked fish pond that can be yours to enjoy. Filled with Bass, catfish and Bluegill the current owners have only allowed catch and release therefore allowing the fish to only get bigger in size! Take in the beauty as you follow the natural landscape alongside the road that will lead you straight to the hand hewn log cabin which was constructed in 1997 using 120 year old logs from an old tobacco barn located in Dobson, NC. Pay close attention to the detail of the hand stacked stone chimney which was collected from the property, as you may be surprised to see that the builder has included a cow tibia to be used as an ornamental piece which also adds character. As you walk through the door of the cabin embrace the open cathedral ceiling which will draw you into the home capturing every detail of the floors, ceiling, walls and kitchen cabinets that vary of knotty pine, oak and chestnut to compliment the beauty of the home. Take notice of the hand- made wooden Lapeyre “alternating tread stair” which leads to the loft area. Relax on the from porch taking in all that nature has to offer. If you're looking for privacy, peacefulness, being one with nature or a vacation home, this is it! Don't miss out on this opportunity to own a unique property. Too much to mention. Come see for yourself! In the words of the current owners: "A few things we have grown to love about the amenities of cabin life vary from the rhythmic sounds of rain landing on the tin-roof (which will lull you to sleep every time) to the unobstructed view of the dazzling Night's sky while listening to the song of the evening whip-poor-will. It is such a treat to smell the sweet aroma of the spring blossoms on the trees and observing the early arrival of May's anticipated hummingbirds. June brings warm, evening breezes that allow you to sleep with the windows and doors open. July puts on a show with natural fireworks as the hundreds of fireflies illuminate the fields like sparklers. Living this close with Mother Nature provides us the opportunity to enjoy an abundance of wildlife. From the daily viewing of deer, raccoon and birds, to the occasional groundhog, turkey and bear, we take the time to honor and preserve the land so the future generations may flourish. We are still not sure which feels more relaxing, sitting on the front porch in a comfortable rocking chair while enjoying a cold glass of home-brewed sun tea, or a gentle breeze swaying you back and forth in a hammock between the shade of two trees. The country aroma of Autumn's chimney smoke and brisk air are such pleasant ways for us to greet the morning. Reading a new book while having a cup of hot cider and listening to the crackle of a roaring fire is one of our favorite ways to spend a snowy afternoon. It is always a peaceful reminder of how simple life can be on the top of this majestic mountain while watching the snow blanket the grass, glistening like a million diamonds. "
