Dr. Norsworthy examines ways to maximize control of large Palmer amaranth in an XtendFlex system in this episode of “In the Weeds”. The lack of effectiveness of dicamba and glufosinate alone or as a mixture on larger-than-labeled Palmer amaranth with a single application is shown. The need to apply dicamba first followed by glufosinate 10 to 14 days later is highlighted and recommended if labels permit. The dicamba followed by glufosinate application sequence should also minimize risk of resistance to both herbicides.
