Raw Footage of the visit of AmaDiba Crisis Committee to Viedgesville community on 13 April 2014. The purpose of the visit was to learn how the SA National Roads Agency (Sanral) actually treated another Eastern Cape rural community in deciding compensation and resettlement. BACKGROUND. In November 2013 SANRAL had arranged a visit by Amadiba residents to showcase their "good work" in empowering local communities affected by their road construction. Their effort to show that there was no negative economic, environmental or any other risks posed to communities by the new route of the Wild Coast N2 Toll Road was unconvincing, because it was a carefully stage managed process. The group returned unconvinced of these assurances, and decided to further investigate the real situation for themselves and raised the money to return without SANRAL's marketing and propaganda escort. I was asked to accompany them to film the proceedings. This is the raw untranslated footage. Now four years later the Amadiba community are experiencing similar broken promises and deceits as SANRAL pushes ahead with their plans to re-route the N2 through the Amadiba's ancestral lands.
