Let's examine a tiny piece of one of the most confusing young Earth creationist talks I've heard in quite some time. Dr. Carl Werner claims 2024 is "the year evolution was overturned," but his fundamental misunderstandings of evolutionary theory are astonishing. I focus on his demonstration that inheritance of acquired characteristics is wrong as if he has destroyed Darwinian evolution and his complete failure mention natural selection - the actual primary mechanism of evolution. He repeatedly conflates Lamarckian evolution with Darwinian evolution and demonstrates profound misconceptions about how mutations work in populations. Below is the the transcript of Werner's video for the portion that I showed. It is very difficult to tell if he thinks there are only two basic mechanisms for evolution (the words he uses) or if he mean that there are two basic mechanisms that are debunked - but never goes on to mention natural selection at all!). Points is that he is very hard to understand so I may have misunderstood his intent here. "Now I want to show you that the mechanisms of evolution don't work there's basically two and both of them don't work one is this idea that an animal can adapt and pass those adaptations onto the next generation Darwin believed this and he said it was a reason for how Evolution occurred he called it the law of use and disuse and this is why it doesn't work. Darwin thought if you exercised a horse and got it really strong strong muscles, that The offspring of the horse would be born with large muscles he wrote that in the Origin of Species that's foolish you can exercise a horse all you want the baby will not be affected by the exercise that would be like a weightlifter in the gym gets big muscles and his child is born with big biceps, that's stupid.
