Hanoi is a big city at over 4.8 million people and the first thing you notice is how everyone seems to have a least 1 bike and it is believed that there are at least 5 million bikes in Hanoi alone. You can see them flying around the city stacked with whole families or goods for the market. There are no buttons to press for a pedestrian crossing here, you just have to follow the locals, look the bikers in the eye, cross and hope for the best. I feel like I spent a lot of time running and avoiding traffic. From Hanoi we took a trip out to Hạ Long Bay (or Halong Bay) which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which many people will recognise by the stunning scenery, which consists of tall limescale mountains and open water, thought to have existed for over 500 million years. While the weather was cloudy, the scenery was stunning, like nothing I had seen before, with surprises around every corner. Ships (known as Junks*) in the harbour and what looked like homes and even cafes built into the mountains themselves. With so much water, you can even get your groceries delivered by boat. Shot orginally in 720p (in 2010) it still evokes the sounds and hustle of one of the busiest cities I have ever been to. Interested in more?
