(27 Jan 2012) JASON WU'S COLLECTION FOR TARGET IS THE CAT'S MEOW Designer Jason Wu is making the crazy cat lady chic with his new collection for Target. The affordable line features delicate blouses, high-waisted, pleated skirts, casual, tie-waist dresses, handbags and clutches. The collection's mascot - a mischievous black cat - appears on tags, scarves and a canvas tote. "Well I'm such a cat person," admitted Wu. "I have two cats, Jinxie and Peaches, and they're like the loves of my life and I loves the ideas of something a little mischievous, something a little fun. I think fashion has to be fun. And I just though let's create a little Mascot for the collection that's both fun mischievous and chic at the same time. You know we illustrated her in this sort of 50s Renee Garland -style inspired illustrations. I love it." "She's a cool cat lady," he adds of his Jason Wu for Target customer. Wu's celeb pals Blake Lively and Chloe Moretz arrived at the SoHo launch party ready to shop on Thursday (26 Jan. ). "Oh I'm such a fan of his and I have been for so long. We were just talking about how when we first met it was just before 'Gossip Girl' aired and it was before he dressed Michelle Obama, you know so we were both young and new to all this and very nave and to be here now you know and see what our journey has been for the past few years, we were both so lucky we were pinching ourselves thinking 'how cool is this?' But it's nice to have that sort of camaraderie and also because his lines are so beautiful, they're so classic and elegant and really timeless. He has such iconic shapes with the cinched waist. His clothes look like a lady and I appreciate the sophistication," gushed Lively. Wu follows in the footsteps of other major designers to roll out budget-friendly brands - most recently Versace for H&M, Karl Lagerfeld for Macy's and last year's wildly successful Missoni for Target. The Missoni collection was so popular its website site crashed just hours after launching. "I went on the last designer line they had for Target and the website was crashed for days. I was sitting there maniacally trying to buy everything I possibly could. I ended up with a tons of kids clothes. I have no idea, I don't have children. I have nieces and nephews but I bought every size they had in everything because I felt like I needed to have it. But I didn't get the bike. I regret that," said Lively. Lively had another reason to celebrate, her CW series "Gossip Girl" marked its 100th episode (airing Monday, 30 January 2012) with a special announcement. Mayor Michael Bloomberg declared January 26th "Gossip Girl" day in New York. "Oh it was so surreal because the time goes by so fast we're in such a bubble," said Lively. "But it was always so important to Stephanie Savage, our creator, to put the show in New York. There were discussions for it to be other places, but she said 'no, this is the main character in the show.' So we're just so honored to still get to shoot in New York City." Lively gave a huge hug to pal Chloe Moretz on the red carpet. The pair co-star in the new film "Hick," which comes out later this year. "Well I'm really excited to be here to A. support Jason. And B. also be able to come to an event that is something that I can actually go and buy myself, because most of the stuff I wear I can never buy myself. So it's special to be here," said Moretz. The "Hugo" star was still reeling from her film's astounding 11 Oscar nominations. Also on hand was "Shameless" star Emmy Rossum and "Heart of Dixie" actress Jaime King.
