What was your favorite look from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever? Today, we’re taking a look at everything that went into the making of the wardrobe of the closing chapter on Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This was sure to be a difficult movie for everyone involved considering the real life passing of Chadwick Boseman, but costume designer Ruth Carter was sure to pay a touching tribute to him by dressing all of Wakanda in white for T’Challa’s funeral scene. Ruth Carter worked with Adidas and the School for Experiential Education in Design to update Letitia Wright’s wardrobe for the sequel, creating technologically advanced pieces that look straight out of a science fiction movie! Even Danai Gurira was given a bodysuit that’s meant to perform exactly like an Adidas workout unitard. A good number of the jewelry and accessories throughout the movie were actually made using a 3-D printer, including Angela Basset’s crown. Tenoch Huerta may have made a few jokes at the expense of Namor’s costume with Jimmy Kimmel, but Ruth Carter was sure to give plenty of attention to detail while making it. In particular, you can see plenty of Mayan influence in the design for Namor, especially when it comes to his neckpiece inspired by a pyramid in Mexico dedicated to the Feathered Serpent. Ruth Carter had a lot of difficulties in the making of M’Baku’s armor. The Walt Disney Company even has a policy against using real fur in any costumes, meaning that Ruth Carter struggled finding a synthetic fur that still looked real underwater!
