Airline: Singapore Airlines Flight Number: SQ856 Route: SIN-HKG; singapore (Changi International Airport Terminal 3) to Hong Kong (Chek Lap Kok International Airport Terminal 1) Class: Business Class Aircraft: Airbus A380-800 (380-841) Registration: 9V-SKY Delivered: June 2018 Flight Duration: 3 hours 40 minutes Distance: 1596 Miles Overall Impression: What is it like to fly Singapore Airlines Business Class? Well here's a Singapore Airlines trip report! Come and join me and let's fly Singapore Airlines' Airbus A380 in Business Class! Singapore Airlines is regarded as one of the best air carriers in the world and they recently updated and refurbished their Airbus A380 with new premium seats. I've flown their old Airbus A380 business class product before and I loved it, so I was really looking forward to try the updated seats. The business class seats on the Airbus A380 are all on the upper deck and are laid out in a 1-2-1 configuration. Similar to the reverse herringbone configuration, all seats on the side of the aircraft have window views, while the center seats can transform into a double bed when reclined all the way. All business class seats are full flat and have direct aisle access. Add that to their already consistently good inflight service and delicious catering and you got a winning flight. What I liked: Changi Airport- Singapore’s Changi Airport won the best airport in the world for a very good reason. Easy access to the city center, clean, well-maintained, and beautiful terminals that are interconnected both airside and landside, and the plethora of food and shopping options within the airport truly makes this airport one of a kind. The Lounge- The Silverkris Lounge in Terminal 3 is huge. It offers plenty of comfortable seating and tons of food and beverage options. The airplane - This was our first time to fly the newly reconfigured Airbus A380 and we totally loved it. I'm a big fan of the Airbus A380 with its spacious cabins, quiet engines and an overall smooth ride. The seats - I was very excited about SQ’s new Airbus A380 business class product, but worried that they might feel claustrophobic. I’m happy to report that they are spacious, comfortable and private. The IFE - This plane uses SQ’s Krisworld Entertainment system. The interface was very intuitive and it’s easy to navigate to the great selection of movies, TV programs, music, and games. The onboard service - SQ is well known for their excellent onboard service and this flight was no different. The crew was attentive and proactive to offer warm and polished service to business class passengers. The crew were chatty, engaging, and clearly love their new product. The Lavatories - SQ does not give out amenity kits to passengers in business class, but their lavatories are almost always stocked with toothbrushes, combs, razors, etc. along with lotion and toiletries. What I didn't like: The overhead bins - The only thing I didn’t like was the the lack of large overhead bin space. SQ removed the center bins to make the cabin more airy, but beware for those who carry a bigger carry-on as they won't fit on the side bins. Luckily, the crew was nice enough to store our bags in the storage closet near the galley. It was OK...I guess: The food - Onboard catering was excellent, as expected, but the fresh fruit starter was kind of a let down since this was a brunch meal service. For the main entrée, I used SQ’s “Book the Cook” and pre-ordered the Japanese Soya Beef filet, and it did not disappoint. My companion ordered the Chilean Sea Bass with kale and quinoa and he said it was delicious. Both orders were nicely plated and presented as well.
