KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 16/13 Ohio State Buckeyes (6-1) led from start to finish against No. 20/22 Tennessee (4-4) on Sunday evening on the road to earn the 78-58 victory. Ohio State used an 11-0 run midway through the first quarter to take a 20-15 lead after 10 minutes. The Buckeyes won the second quarter 23-13 to extend their lead to 43-28 at halftime. Ohio State led 63-44 at the end of the third quarter. The Buckeyes earned the 78-58 victory after the slight edge in the fourth. Rebeka Mikulášiková became the 37th player in program history to score 1,000 career points, finishing with a season-high 18 points on the evening. Cotie McMahon was the first in the game to reach 10 points and finished with 19 points. Celeste Taylor (season-highs – 15 points and 12 rebounds) and Jacy Sheldon (13) also scored in double figures. How it Happened Ohio State scored back-to-back baskets amidst a Tennessee turnover to open scoring. Rebeka Mikulášiková had the game's first triple and a 6-0 Buckeye run gave OSU the 15-7 advantage midway through the quarter. Ohio State extended its run to 11-0 and its lead to 20-7 with under four minutes remaining in the quarter. Tennessee scored the final eight points of the quarter to cut Ohio State's lead to 20-15 after 10 minutes. McMahon opened scoring in the second quarter with a pair of free throws to reach 10 points. Tennessee scored five-straight points to get within four at 24-20 but Ohio State led 28-20 at the media timeout. The Buckeyes used a 7-0 run to take a 39-23 lead on a fastbreak layup from Sheldon with 1:29 to play in the half. Sheldon beat the buzzer with a layup to extend OSU's lead to 43-28 going into the locker room. Ohio State scored the first six points of the third quarter, extending its lead to 49-28 with 8:22 remaining to force a Tennessee timeout. The Buckeyes led by as many as 20 points at 53-33 with 6:38 to play in the quarter before a 6-0 run from the Lady Vols had the score at 53-39 with 5:30 on the quarter clock. Ohio State held a 60-40 lead with less than three minutes left in the quarter after a 7-1 run and held the 63-44 advantage after 30 minutes. Taylor opened the fourth quarter with a three-pointer as scoring was back and forth to begin the quarter. The Buckeyes led by 20 points (72-52) at the media timeout midway through the quarter. Scoring was capped at 78-58 on a Taiyier Parks layup.
