On Saturday 14th December 2019 the Railway Touring Company operated "The Christmas White Rose" along a favourite mainline steam highway the East Coast Mainline from London Kings Cross to York and return with motive power being A1 no 60163 'Tornado' on only her 2nd ever trips with the RTC, originally booked for the A1 outbound and the return by A4 60009 'Union of South Africa' the continued non availability of the A4 meant the A1 would at short notice take up the return leg Seen at speed on the outward leg 'Tornado' heads along the flat section at Arlesey, approaching Newark Northgate by the side of the trail path and through the middle road at Doncaster taken from high above the Frenchgate Carpark over-viewing the stations the old railway works (commonly known as 'The Plant') The A1 is next seen being serviced at the NRMs north yard before moving off to collect her support coach and get turned in readiness for the return, incidentally the yard was also used by 7029 'Clun Castle' which arrived on a tour from Dorridge (not seen in this video) The return run back to the Cross would see 60163 once again at speed seen storming through Retford and following water and pathing stops along the way south is finally seen ripping through Huntington with a last minute change onto the fast line making for a splendid sight to top off another great chase!
