6 months, 29.276km and 181.182m D+ on their Jena, 21 countries crossed. Ambassador Caroline Soubayroux and her husband David Ferguson’s journey around the world was unlike any other. Amidst the chaos of Covid, they embarked on a unique route that took them from Yukon to Australia and beyond, to set a new record for the fastest unsupported couple to do so and raise vital funds for Barts Charity. “The Cycle The World project bordered on the impossible. However, the challenge attracted me a lot, and so I trusted my husband David, and dived into the adventure. From an emotional point of view, these were six unforgettable months: both for the joy of seeing places of moving beauty and for the sense of dejection when we were at the end of our strength due to the prohibitive climatic conditions. Still, I was able to overcome my physical and mental limits and, after six months, complete the journey. When I got off my bike in London and hugged my friends again, I could hardly believe that I had cycled 29,000 kilometers on four continents”.
