Deville sucked as a guitar player. Now, I didn't necessarily come up with that idea on my own, or because I had ever tried to play any of Poison's music or solos. I was just going with what the crowd said for the most part, without doing my own research. All these years later I find myself learning CC's riffs and solos for students and Patreon members. And all I can say is: I was wrong. Lesson learned. Do your own research and come to your own conclusions. The solo we're looking at today is "Look What The Cat Dragged In" which is the title track from their 1986 debut album. And it's a corker! There's some speedy legato type phrases, a cool diminished idea, some Chuck Berry -isms and some melodic phrasing plus a whammy bar ending. It's all very short and very well done. Fits the song perfectly and is not that easy to play. Give it a shot! E flat tuning. Lesson starts at 05:33 Rock On!
