Santa Claus is coming to town. Cloe Chantal with Storband Sykkylven.

This year I had a unique opportunity to sing together with our local Band. Sykkylven Storband is an active and popular band in Møre og Romsdal. The band had many gigs and became a driving force for the jazz community in Sykkylven since 1990. Jazz musicians were hired as instructors, such as Bernt Steen, Sture Jansson and Harald Bergersen. In a municipality with 7,000 inhabitants, it gradually became difficult to fill the ranks, which led to the band partly getting people from outside and partly being operated as a project band for periods. Storband music lived on in the Sykkylven community despite limited access to musicians. Music making in smaller groups was also offered to young people who later pursued music, such as Kenneth Ekornes and Frank Willy Utgård. In 2001, the band was full again, and from 2003, the Sykkylven Storband is fully operational again.
